Austria at the 75th U.N. General Assembly

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the General Debate of the U.N. General Assembly, traditionally the most high-profile United Nations event of the year, was unlike any other in the organization’s history. As world leaders did not travel to New York City for the 75th anniversary of the United Nations, meetings and summits moved online and pre-recorded video statements were broadcast “as live”.

Austria was represented by Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen, Federal Chancellor Sebastian Kurz, Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg, and Susanne Raab, Federal Minister for Women and Integration. Austria’s new Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Alexander Marschik, held the ground in the General Assembly Hall and introduced the speakers.
