The delegation consisted of Jonathan Georg Dorner from Burgenland, who serves at the Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust; Simon Hilscher (Museum of Jewish Heritage, New York), Ben Schnell (Holocaust Education and Genocide Prevention Foundation, Montreal) and Stephan Stropp (USC Shoah Foundation, Los Angeles) from Lower Austria; David Sebastian Mader (American Jewish Committee, New York) and Christoph Shawa (Simon Wiesenthal Center, Museum of Tolerance, Los Angeles) from Upper Austria; Anatol Schmidt (World Jewish Congress, New York) from Vienna, and Maximilian Murg (Sarah and Chaim Neuberger Holocaust Education Centre, Toronto) from Styria.

They all had the opportunity to exchange views and experiences with Ambassador Martin Weiss and Counselor Johannes Dopsch.

The Austrian Holocaust Memorial Service started as an alternative to Austria’s compulsory military service and today assigns volunteers to serve at major Holocaust and Jewish institutions around the world.
