On June 10, 2019, Austrian Ambassador Wolfgang Waldner held a reception for the Austrian delegation to this year’s SelectUSA Investment Summit at his residence in Washington, DC.
U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross extended a warm “Welcome to the United States” to the 21 delegates, among them multinational industrial leaders, business partners and tech entrepreneurs, whose participation reflects their strategic focus on the American market (Borealis AG, byrd technologies, Constantia Flexibles, Ebner Furnaces, goUrban e-Mobility, Gronda, Kapsch TrafficCom, klickerr, Melecs, Miba, Schindler Attorneys, Semperit, Tyrolit and voestalpine). Austria is a small, export-oriented country within the European Union, and the United States is its second-largest trading partner worldwide.
Jürgen Roth, Vice President of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber, and U.S. Ambassador to Austria Trevor Traina lead the Austrian delegation, the largest in summit history, to Washington, DC.
The SelectUSA Investment Summit, organized by the U.S. Department of Commerce for the sixth time this year, is dedicated to promoting foreign direct investment (FDI) in the United States. It brings together companies from all over the world, economic development organizations from every corner of the nation, and other parties working to facilitate business investment in the U.S.
