On May 23, 2019, students from Ross Elementary School in Northwest Washington, DC gave their final presentation about Austria, their adopted country for this school year. They showed off all their hard work and dedication including a vocal presentation of our national anthem in German, a performance of a Viennese waltz, an original skit, and a flute and piano recital (kudos to Otis and Ivan).
The Director for Press and Information at the Austrian Embassy, Thorsten Eisingerich, thanked Ms. Emily Mulford and her fifth-grade students Zoe, Khyber, Dora, Christopher, Matei, Isabella, Nima, Amelie, Ivan, Edgard, Jackson, Otis, Labiba, Yasmine, John, Iris, Loelle, Larkin, Daphne and Cyrus for a great year with a special #TasteOfAustria by serving homebaked, authentic Austrian apple strudel and wished the students well on their next journey in middle school. Have a great summer break, new friends of Austria!
#throwback to their first visit in November and the surprise visit by Saint Nicholas in December of 2018
The Embassy Adoption Program is a partnership between DC Public Schools and Washington Performing Arts, which pairs embassies with fifth and sixth grade classes for a year's worth of cross-cultural learning, projects, and enrichment activities.
