The Austrian Fulbright Commission sponsors several young Austrian scholars who teach and study at U.S. universities. As part of its continued outreach, the Embassy connected with one of them at the University of North Carolina, Greensboro (UNCG).
Ms. Andrea Steiner, a Fulbright Teaching Assistant in German at UNCG , who hails from Carinthia, Austria, initiated a formal lecture and workshop with the Deputy Director of the Embassy’s Press and Information Service in the United States, Dr. Hannes Richter, on April 9-10, 2019. Dr. Richter delivered a formal lecture on the latest insights on millennial political behavior in the United States and Austria and facilitated a workshop with students and faculty on the theory and practice of public diplomacy in the digital age.
The visit provided opportunities to connect with students and faculty members, learn about the university’s global programs and the role of Fulbright, and discuss Austria’s heritage in the United States, as well as current affairs.
The events were co-hosted by several university departments (political science; languages, literatures and cultures; as well as the Office of International & Global Studies, Lloyd International Honors College and the Austrian Fulbright Commission).
