After meeting with SAP, WeWork and the Austrian flagship company Swarovski in New York, Austrian Federal Minister for Digital and Economic Affairs Margarete Schramböck traveled to Washington, DC, where she held high-level talks from October 1-2, 2018.
On October 1, Minister Schramböck met with Larry Kudlow, Director of the U.S. National Economic Council and Deputy U.S. Trade Representative Jeff Gerrish, with whom she held talks on recent developments in the EU – US trade policy. She was later on invited as guest of honor at Ambassador Waldner’s residence, where she met with Austrian and U.S. personalities. Among the guests was also the U.S. Ambassador to Austria, Trevor Traina.
The following day, Minister Schramböck attended a working breakfast with representatives of U.S. companies at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Afterwards she spoke with experts of the DC based Peterson Institute of International Economics and subsequently had a business meeting with Chris Padilla, Vice President for Governmental and Regulatory Affairs at the IBM HQ. Minister Schramböck then met U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross to take stock of the transatlantic trade relations.
