From October 6-11, 2018, Austrian State Secretary of Finance Hubert Fuchs visited Washington, DC to consult about the changes in U.S. tax and fiscal policy under the current administration. To this end, State Secretary Fuchs met with representatives of the Treasury as well as several tax experts of renowned U.S. think tanks and academic institutions based in DC, including the National Taxpayer Union, Tax Foundation, American Enterprise Institute, Johns Hopkins University, Urban Institute, and Cato Institute. During this series of meetings, State Secretary Fuchs gained ideas and insights in view of the tax reform in Austria scheduled for 2020.

The business trip was rounded off by a dinner with U.S. tax experts at the Ambassador’s residence and a visit to the Embassy to acquaint the State Secretary with its organizational units and their respective tasks and projects.
