Austrian Minister of Justice, Prof. Wolfgang Brandstetter visited Washington D.C. from February 1-3, 2017.
Accompanied by Ambassador Wolfgang Waldner, he met the present chair of the Helsinki-Commission of Congress, Congressmen Chris Smith, as well as Senator Chuck Grassley, the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Furthermore, he spoke with the Hungarian minister for Human Resources, Zoltán Balog on the sidelines of the National Prayer Breakfast, the annual gathering of religious leaders, lawmakers, politicians and dignitaries from around the world.
In addition, Prof. Brandstetter gave a talk about ‘Hate Speech’ at the Catholic University Law School.
On Thursday night, Ambassador Waldner held a dinner reception for the delegation at the Austrian Residence. The reception was joined by U.S. lawmakers, think tank representatives, academics, and Austrian journalists. Upon conclusion of the visit to Washington, DC, the minister continued his U.S. trip to visit Connecticut and Los Angeles before returning to Austria.
