KTM North America, Inc. is currently building a new $50 million North American Group headquarters in Murrieta, CA. KTM, with global headquarters in Mattighofen, Austria, is a leading producer of high-performance motorcycles.
In November, Ambassador Weiss joined the company in celebrating progress of the new headquarters with an exclusive event on-site, where guests could take a first look at the plans for the 150,000 sf facility. Once completed, it will house some 300 employees on a three building campus. KTM AG CEO Stefan Pierer was in attendance and also joined the brick laying ceremony of the Gobal and North America Board of Directors.
“It’s a very exciting and emotional day for me,” said Pierer. “Exactly 30 years ago, I started on a very small scale in the U.S. with a total of 12 people and now we are by far the biggest European motorcycle producer and we are employing 5,000 people. Racing is basically the driving force that we created throughout the 30 years and it brings us to this – the biggest single investment I ever did – with a $50 million dollar project here in the U.S. Now, let’s look ahead and let’s set up new targets for the future.”
KTM’s iconic, orange bikes have been winning accolades across the racing world and have won a record 18 consecutive victories between 2001 and 2019 at the prestigious Dakar Rally. In addition, the company also owns Husqvarna Motorcycles, GasGas bikes, and has recently acquired Felt Bicycles of Irvine, California.
