Austrian tennis pro Dominic Thiem made history when he became the first Austrian to win the U.S. Open on September 13, 2020 in New York City. It is his first Grand Slam title. In a dramatic game, Thiem beat Alexander Zverev 2-6 4-6 6-4 6-3 7-6 (6), rallying to victory from two sets down.

"I put a lot of work in. I dedicated basically my whole life until this point to win one of the four majors. Now I did it," Thiem said after the match.
