Doris Berger, Acting Head of Curatorial Affairs of the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, was awarded the Decoration of Honor in Gold for Services to the Republic of Austria by the President of Austria, Alexander Van der Bellen. She is on the planning team of the Academy Museum which is currently being built by Renzo Piano and will be opened later this year.
On February 28, 2019, Consul General Andreas Launer presented the high national accolade to Ms. Berger in a decoration ceremony at the Austrian Residence in Los Angeles in the presence of high-ranking representatives of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and members of the Austrian-American community. On this occasion the Consul General praised Doris Berger’s outstanding work as exhibition curator and her efforts to emphasize the close cultural relationship between Austria and California in the past and today.
