Celebrating the Jewish Holiday of Hanukkah
On December 18, 2019, the Austrian Embassy, in partnership with the Washington regional offices of the American Jewish Committee (AJC) and AJC ACCESS, (AJC's young professionals program), hosted the 9th annual Hanukkah celebration.
After welcoming remarks, Ambassador Martin Weiss together with AJC Washington Director Alan Ronkin, AJC Washington Vice Director Linda Rosenzweig and AJC ACCESS DC Vice President Yael Rothman lit the candles of the Menorah, while guitarist Ari Jacobson helped lead Yiddish Hanukkah songs.

The traditional part was followed by Aimee Ginsburg Bikel’s book presentation of “The City of Light” by her late husband, the Austrian-American actor and folk musician Theodore Bikel.
