On the occasion of the 2018 Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group, Austrian Federal Minister of Finance Hartwig Löger and the Austrian Central Bank Governor Ewald Nowotny visited Washington, DC for a series of meetings.
During a busy schedule, Federal Minister Löger and the IMF’s Managing Director Christine Lagarde signed a Memorandum of Understanding regarding the continued operation of the Joint Vienna Institute, a regional center that has been providing policy-oriented training in the fields of economics, financial sector analysis, trade policy, and corporate governance primarily to participants from countries in Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe, as well as the Caucasus and Central Asia.
While in Washington, Federal Minister Löger also met with Cyrill Muller, Vice President, The World Bank, Poul M Thomsen, Director of the IMF's European Department, as well as Tobias Adrian, the IMF's Financial Counsellor and Director of Monetary and Capital Markets.
