Lt. Gen. Franz J. Reissner inducted into NDU's International Hall of Fame

On September 19, 2017, the National Defense University (NDU) in Washington DC inducted five alumni into the NDU International Hall of Fame. Among the honorees was Lieutenant General Franz J. Reissner from Tulln in Lower Austria.

General Reissner assumed command of the Austrian Land Forces in 2017. He held top assignments with the Austrian Ministry of Defense, including Commander of the Military District of Vienna, Director of Logistics, and Commanding General of the Joint Services Support Command.

General Reissner studied at the U.S. National Defense University where he graduated from the National War College, Class of 2004, and obtained a Master of Science degree in National Security Strategy.

The NDU International Hall of Fame was established in 1999. The purpose of this program is to provide a prestigious and visible means of honoring NDU graduates who have attained through merit the highest positions in their nation’s armed forces, service component, or government, or who have held an equivalent position in a multinational organization. The photographs of the honorees are displayed in Marshall Hall in the Hall of Fame area on NDU campus.
