Ambassador Wolfgang Waldner visited Pittsburgh, PA as part of the U.S. State Department’s "Experience America" - program from May 21 to 23, 2017. The program included meetings with representatives of Pittsburgh’s businesses, cultural institutions, and universities.
The Ambassador had the opportunity to visit Uber’s self driving car facility and participate in a test drive on Pittsburgh roads, and to visit Carnegie Mellon University’s renowned National Robotics Engineering Center (NERC).
Furthermore, Ambassador Waldner met with some 200 representatives from business, academia, politics and culture as part of a "community reception" at the Andy Warhol Museum, hosted by Pittsburg Mayor Bill Peduto.
Additional activities included a visit to the University of Pittsburgh campus, where Ambassador Waldner met with high-ranking university representatives, including Chancellor Patrick Gallagher, visited the Human Engineering Research Laboratories (HERL) and also had the opportunity to view the so-called "Austrian Nationality Room,“ a seminar room decorated in a traditional Austrian Habsburg - style.
