Foreign Minister Kurz attends counter-ISIL conference in Washington, DC

On March 22, 2017, U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson hosted members of the Global Coalition to defeat ISIS at the State Department in Washington, DC. Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz represented Austria at this partners' meeting to review and accelerate the campaign for the lasting defeat of ISIS.

As a member of the Coalition’s working groups on foreign terrorist fighters and stabilization, Austria supports the stabilization of areas liberated from Daesh. These efforts include funding the United Nations Development Programme with €5 million for water supply, electricity and job creation in 2017. Overall, Austria has already provided €19 million for stabilization and humanitarian assistance in Iraq for the 2014-2018 period.
