W.E.B.’s subsidiary SWEB Development Inc. obtained the rights to buy the Pisgah Mountain wind farm in Maine, which paves the way for W.E.B. to enter the U.S. market. This provides the company with new opportunities to benefit from the considerable growth in the sector of wind energy in North America.
Located in the heart of Maine, Pisgah Mountain wind farm was chosen in part because of the ideal wind conditions and its proximity to W.E.B.’s North American headquarters in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
The project marks a first step towards enhanced cooperation with Vestas Wind Systems and might only be the first of a number of acquisitions of this kind. “Our first project in the U.S. enables us to enter a very promising market. The sector of wind energy is also expanding here, and our established base in Canada has created a favorable starting position”, Dr. Frank Dumeier, CTO of W.E.B., notes.
Commissioning is scheduled for the end of 2016.
