Deputy Speaker of the Austrian National Council visits the U.S.

Deputy Speaker of the Austrian National Council Karlheinz Kopf travelled to Corpus Christi, TX on April 11 to visit the construction of the voestalpine HDI plant. The Project is voestalpine’s largest foreign direct investment, bringing $ 1 billion and 150 new jobs to the region. After a tour of the construction site, he travelled to New York City and participated in the 21st Austria Investor & Business Conference on April 13. He discussed current economic challenges and opportunities with a number of high-level European and American economic policy makers and business leaders.

Following the Conference, Kopf joined the delegation of Austrian Minister of Finance Hans Jörg Schelling and Governor of the Austrian National Bank Ewald Nowotny at a reception at Ambassador Wolfgang Waldner’s residence in Washington, D.C.

On the last day of his visit, he met with Congressmen Erik Paulsen, Co-Chair of the “TTIP Caucus,” and Robert B. Aderholt  and also took part in a roundtable discussion on TTIP, organized by U.S. trade expert Daniel Hamilton and the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber.
