On May 9, the Austrian Embassy in Washington, D.C. opened its doors to the public as part of the “EU Open House Day”. Over 4000 guests joined the Embassy to get a taste of Austrian cuisine and to learn more about the country and its culture.
The program included a performance of an alpine dance group as well as a chance to personally meet Ambassador Hans Peter Manz, who gave a short interview to CNN politics on that occasion.
Guest were also able to join Austrian wine tastings with wine expert Klaus Wittauer, while local Austrian master chef Willy Jonach prepared fresh apple strudel on stage, showing the audience step by step how the world famous Austrian pastry is made.
