21st Austria Investor and Business Conference

On June 16 and 17, 2014, 21st Austria and Advantage Austria teamed up for the 2014 Austrian Investor & Business Conference at the St. Regis Hotel in New York City. The conference was a private initiative to foster dialogue between Austria, Central and Eastern Europe, and the United States in the areas of investment and business.

More than 100 industry leaders joined a series of events to hear the latest updates and insights about the situation in Europe, particularly Central and Eastern Europe and Ukraine. The event was at capacity due to strong outreach activities and an vital interest in the current macro-economic environment including the situation in Ukraine, the ECB's historic rate cut and the European elections. In addition, the unique combination of an institutional investor roadshow with a business conference presented an unusual dynamic. Investors, analysts, and business professionals gathered to hear the expert and impartial perspectives of 21st Austria CEOs, the Austrian Ambassador to the United States, the Austrian Trade Representative in New York City, and researchers from the Vienna Institute of International Economic Studies.

21st Austria is an initiative founded in 2011 to explain the current basis of Austria's global competitive position. 14 Austrian companies together with the Central Bank of Austria and the Vienna Stock Exchange represent 21st Austria. Claus J. Raidl, the President of the Austrian Central Bank (OeNB), acts as spokesperson for the group.

By means of one-to-one conversations and roadshows the members establish a dialogue with opinion leaders from in the U.S. and in the United Kingdom about opportunities as well as challenges for Austria in a rapidly changing world. It is an unique effort to share learnings and ideas with international stakeholders and to offer proposals to improve business conditions in Austria.

The members of 21st Austria strongly believe that business is not taking place in a vacuum but is shaped by perceptions and information. As a medium-sized country that is highly globalized, they see the necessity to foster a better understanding of Austria, the euro area and the emerging markets of Eastern Europe. As a group of leading companies of the country they are able to present their views coherently and at the same time provide evidence to their arguments as managers of world market leading companies.

Advantage Austria is the official Austrian trade promotion authority.
