Despite the unexpectedly inclement winter weather, over 150 people came to see the works of two artists with very distinct artistic positions. Austrian appointed Ambassador Wolfgang Waldner welcomed artist Andrew Mezvinsky, Danielle Spera (Director of the Jewish Museum Vienna), Hannah Lessing (Secretary General of the Austrian National Fund and daughter of artist Erich Lessing), and guests. Spera mentioned that the two artists both show Jewish art from different perspectives. Hannah Lessing, who co-curated the exhibition, was delighted to show the works of her father in Washington, D.C. and thanked both the Jewish Museum Vienna and the Embassy of Austria for the cooperation.

On Saturday, January 16, the U.S. Friends of the Jewish Museum Vienna had held an exclusive preview dinner. The director of the Jewish Museum Vienna, Dr. Danielle Spera presented the history of the Jewish community in Vienna and shared profound insights into the museum’s development including past and present exhibitions.
The exhibition is on display at the Embassy of Austria until March 18, 2016.
