Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz at the United Nations in New York

At the Review Conference of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) on 28 April, the Austrian Foreign Minister -on behalf of 157 countries- delivered a statement focusing on the humanitarian consequences of nuclear weapons.

The Minister also met with the Lord Mayor of Hiroshima, the UN High Representative of Disarmament, the Foreign Ministers of Sweden and Iran, as well as representatives of NGOs and the Press. Furthermore, Minister Kurz together with representatives of the UN, the City of Vienna and the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber reopened the iconic Vienna Café at the UN General Assembly Building following its refurbishment.
