Declaration in Support of the Israelite Religious Community

Neue Kronen-Zeitung (06/27/03)

Part II

For decades the Israelitische Kultusgemeinde (English: Religious Community (IKG)) in Vienna has made efforts towards commensurate restitution for confiscated property and assets. Until now it has received primarily promises and declarations of good intention. Confronted with current financial difficulty, the IKG has now started a campaign of collecting signatures.

We, from the newspaper "Krone," are publishing during the coming days a list of personalities who, by submitting their signatures, are calling upon the Austrian Federal Government to fulfil the demands of restitution short term and in commensurate amount. The following people have expressed their support and sympathy for the needs of the IKG: Prof. Josef Haslinger, Salzburgā€™s Archbishop Dr. Alois Kothgasser, Federal Council Member Dr. Vincenz Liechtenstein, City Council Member Dr. Andreas Mailath-Pokorny, Dr. Freda Meissner-Blau, Elisabeth Orth, Wolfgang Petritsch, Prof. Arnulf Rainer, Head of the Labor Union for the Self- Employed, Regional Parliamentary President Prof. Erika Stubenvoll and Roland Düringer.
