The Viennese Opera Ball in New York
The Opera Ball in Vienna is regarded as one of the most glamorous and most prestigious events in Austria. Since 1955, the Viennese Opera Ball in New York, a white tie charity gala, has been representative of Vienna’s cultural legacy, elegance, and glamour in the Big Apple. This year the annual ball took place on February 21, 2014 at the prestigious Waldorf Astoria hotel in New York City under the auspices of the U.S.-Austrian Chamber of Commerce. The ball also launched Carnegie Hall’s three-week festival, “Vienna - City of Dreams,” dedicated to the cultural scene and history of Austria’s capital city. This year’s ball featured famous conductor Peter Duchin and his Orchestra, opera singers from New York’s Metropolitan Opera Company, West Point Cadets, as well as a Midnight Quadrille performance.
