Lecture: Franz Schubert, 1797-1828, A Literary Biography
On February 4, 2014, the Embassy hosted an evening dedicated to Austria’s great composer Franz Schubert. Author Gloria Kaiser presented her literary biography “Franz Schubert” and discussed the life and work of the famous musical genius.
In his short lifetime of less than 32 years, Franz Schubert established himself as a prolific composer, penning around 600 Lieder, ten (nearly) complete symphonies, liturgical music, operas, incidental music and a large body of chamber and solo piano music. Up to this day, Franz Schubert is regarded as one of the greatest songwriters in history.
